Fans of early-morning cartoons like He-Man: Masters of the Universe should check out Mythforce, a cartoon-style first-person fantasy roguelike coming to Xbox.
As revealed during the ID@Xbox Showcase, Mythforce will be bringing its cartoonish castles and crypts to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on September 12.
Mythforce Xbox release date trailer
Four heroes, Victoria the Knight, Hawkins the Hunter, Maggie the Mage, and Rico the Rogue are the titular Mythforce, who with your help, wield will wield swords and sorcery to save the world of Eldryth from the level vampire lord, Daedalus.
Mythforce is a four-player co-op, first-person roguelike which sees you attempting to cull the forces occupying a cartoon-style castle. As with all roguelikes, upon dying in MythForce, you’ll be able to upgrade your characters so you can re-enter the dungeon with a little extra power… only to be slaughtered a little further into the game. Repeating the process until you finally pass judgment on Daedalus.
I love the overall aesthetic of Mythforce, as it reminds me of my childhood, waiting for He-Man: Masters of the Universe to come onto the TV so I could jump into the air with my TV remote sword above me while shouting, “I have the power!” They were good times, so it’ll be great to live out a fantasy cartoon adventure in Mythquest. If you’re up for some co-op roguelike shenanigans now, the fantastic Gunfire Reborn is available alongside some of the best games on Game Pass and is well worth a look.
