MCC update adds new Flood Firefight mode and campaign crossplay for Halo 3 and ODST

The most notable new addition is the new Flood Firefight mode, which adds the parasitic Flood to ODST’s Firefight. According to 343, the Flood in ODST have received “numerous upgrades” when compared to their counterparts in Halo 3. In Firefight, the Flood will be accompanied by fog that dynamically fades in and out, providing a creepy atmosphere, and the Flood will also be able to use vehicles. ODSTs can also be infected and resurrected by the Flood, so you might have to fight against your previously downed allies or even yourself.
This update also includes campaign crossplay support for Halo 3 and ODST, which allows those on Xbox consoles and PC to finally play these two campaigns cooperatively online. The dev team says that while the feature has been tested internally, it “requires additional insight from real players with different networking setups” and asks players to submit bug reports if they encounter issues.
Elsewhere, the patch brings various UI improvements, changes to Forge and mod tools, campaign customisation for Halo 4, support for 51 new medals in Halo 3, changes to monthly challenges, and adds skulls that were previously exclusive to Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2 Anniversary to other games. You can check out the full list of changes over on Halo Waypoint.
343 Industries also spoke more on what’s next for Halo: MCC. With seasonal content updates no longer a thing, 343 says it is aiming to drop multiple updates for the game throughout 2022 that will focus on “delivering key features, quality-of-life updates, and bug fixes alongside the unreleased content from last year.”
The Halo: MCC April update is available to download now and is 21.5 GB on Xbox consoles and 26.5 GB on PC.
