Superfuse isn’t even in Early Access and developer Stitch Heads Entertainment is already teasing the big twist.
This PC action RPG casts you as a superhero tasked with protecting humanity’s colonies from an alien threat. Yes, Earth has been well and truly ruined and so the super-wealthy have jumped into the colony ships and skedaddled.
On top of that, they’ve developed the technology to enhance their longetivity, turning themselves into virtual gods. You’re one of their heaviest hitters and, as shown in the trailer, your job is to blast and pummel the living daylights out of an invading alien force, dubbed “The Corruption”.

The game sports cel-shaded graphics, giving the appearance that you’re in a comic book though you’re not just taking on one single, moustache twirling villain. There are hordes of enemies to smash your way through, so fans of frenetic action should get a kick out of it. You’ll be able to tweak your power set and also team up with up to three other players online.
However, the trailer kicks off with the line “They think they are heroes? Fighting to save their world?” which all but confirms you’re secretly the bad guys. If you’ve seen a particular episode of Black Mirror you’ll know the twist we’re thinking of, and it could reframe subsequent playthroughs.
We’ll have to wait to find out if we’re right, because Superfuse’s final release is set for 2023. However, it will be entering Early Access later this year – you can wishlist it on Steam here if being a potentially deluded superhero takes your fancy.
