Apex Legends publishers EA have turned on their decision regarding the payment of expenses for the professional teams that will compete at an upcoming LAN event in Sweden.
The developers behind the popular Battle Royale title had received a ton of hate from the game’s massive community, which features both professional and casual players, after it was revealed that only half of the 40 teams that qualified for the event will receive the funding for their travel expenses.
Following the backlash, EA were quick to correct their mistake as earlier today they announced that all 40 of the teams that will head to Stockholm for the event will receive monetary backing for their travels.
We’ve heard your feedback regarding travel. As a result, we’ve made the decision to cover travel expenses for all starting players participating at live events for the remainder of Year 2.
See you in Stockholm!

The news about EA’s decision to not fund teams became public yesterday, and in an instant, the community reacted in anger.
Along with the fact that only half of the teams were receiving any funds, it was also revealed that EA will only cover the expenses of 3 players on the teams that got it. Other players and coaches were exempted from receiving these funds, which caused quite the issue for smaller organizations, who had qualified for the $1 million LAN event that will be held in Stockhom.
They are also only covering the 3 players on that half of teams, not even coaches. Although EA will be paying full travel for teams in the ALGS Championship LAN later, this is your first LAN in what?.. 3 years and you can’t properly compensate travel to get there. sucks

However, with the decision now overturned, players and coaches of all 40 teams will now be focusing towards the competition ahead, as the LAN event begins at the end of April.
