Fleury has said that it’s possible he could retire this offseason.
Marc-Andre Fleury is back in town and will be facing the Penguins tonight — and it could be the last time he takes the ice here in Pittsburgh.
Fleury, still going strong at 39 years old, has said that it’s possible he could retire this offseason.
The man known as ‘Flower’ is just four games shy of his 1000th game played throughout his 20-year NHL career.
Drafted first overall in 2003 and the first building block of rebuilding a broken Penguins franchise, Fleury played for 13 years in Pittsburgh, winning the Stanley Cup three times.
In 2017, Fleury’s time in Pittsburgh ended as he became a member of the inaugural Vegas Golden Knights team, where he spent four years, winning the Vezina Trophy for the 2020-21 season.
When Fleury returned back to Pittsburgh for the first time, he was welcomed back with a standing ovation at PPG Paints Arena.
Following his four years in Sin City, Fleury split the 2021-22 season between the Blackhawks and Wild, and has been in Minnesota the past two seasons as well.
While it’s still unclear whether or not this will be Fleury’s final season, his time in Pittsburgh will be remembered fondly for sure.
