On August 30, Nebraska packed Memorial Stadium for one of the most memorable volleyball games of all time. Its match vs. the Omaha Mavericks drew an attendance of 92,003, setting a record for the largest crowd to watch a women’s sporting event in the United States.
The ticket record for that game is on the verge of being shattered as the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship Finals on Dec. 17 between Texas and Nebraska has become the highest-selling women’s volleyball game of the year, outselling the Nebraska vs. Omaha by nearly 25% according to StubHub.
“In line with the upward swing in demand for women’s sports this year, the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships is seeing incredible demand, trending at double the amount of sales for the Final Four compared to last year,” StubHub spokesperson Adam Budelli said.

Texas advanced to the finals on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin. It’s been a tough road for the Longhorns, who began the season with three non-conference losses before gaining momentum and experience as the season continued. The volleyball team and Texas’ football team made history as no school has ever sent a team to both the CFP and the volleyball Final Four until Texas this season.
Nebraska’s program, on the other hand, has been one of the most dominant in college history, winning five national titles. They’ve been the No. 1 team for most of the season, only losing one match to Wisconsin.
