Fortnite recently launched three brand new experiences in the game that almost immediately took its fans by storm- LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival. In simple words, these are the latest modes that made their debut in the game earlier this month, offering exclusive experiences to players. However, players wondered if these new additions came with a timer attached. Fortnite has now clarified that these are permanent new modes and are here to stay for some time.
Fortnite’s new game modes are permanent additions
A post was shared from the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Fortnite on 11th December. It informed that Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival “are brand new games entirely” and are “here to stay-with regular updates”. These aren’t limited time modes.
These new experiences within the game of Fortnite are evidence of how much the game has evolved over the years from what used to be just a battle royale. Lego Fortnite is a new survival crafting adventure within Fortnite, inside a Lego-themed world. Rocket Racing on the other hand offers an arcade racing experience with unique gameplay and elements adopted from Rocket League. Lastly, Fortnite Festival allows players to perform alongside popular music artists on a virtual stage. In other words, in the current state, Fortnite is a highly interactive platform, offering a range of experiences that aren’t just limited to battle royale.
Former Fortnite boss shares original vision devs had for the game
Commenting on this evolution, former Fortnite boss Donald Mustard took to X to share an image illustrating the vision they had for the game back in 2017. Mustard writes, that the idea was to “evolve Fortnite into a ‘Place’. A place where you could have all sorts of different agency driven games and entertainment experiences with your friends – all connected by your ‘hub’ (your locker, cosmetics, progression, etc).”
The vision was to create this ‘hub’ which Mustard says was “huge” and “audacious”, and they correctly predicted that it would take around 6 years to make. He adds, “The plan changed and evolved a million times, but today you are playing the TRUE vision of the dream of FORTNITE.”
How to get free Jackie skin in Rocket Racing?
In other news, you can now grab a Jackie skin for free via Fortnite’s Rocket Racing. Many players reported not being able to unlock the skin, by reaching Gold which is the prerequisite for the same. However, players simply have to reach Gold 2, and then complete a race to complete the quest that will earn you the skin. However, Epic has confirmed that the prerequisite will be lowered to Gold 1 with a future update as was originally intended.
Additionally, Fortnite has also informed that they are working on getting instrument controller support to Fortnite Festival as a priority in the Q&A for the game mode.
