The Houston Texans lost on the road to the New York Jets by a score of 30-6 in a game that also temporarily cost them starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, who exited to be evaluated for a concussion.
Offensive spotlight: Zach Wilson returned to the Jets’ starting lineup after the drama surrounding that move, and he put together one of the best games of his career. Wilson averaged 8.1 yards per attempt, throwing for more than 300 yards with a 77.1% adjusted completion rate. Against a spicy Texans defense, this was an impressive day from Wilson.
Defensive spotlight: Both teams generated significant quarterback pressure this game. Multiple Jets recorded a 20.0%-plus pass-rush win rate, pending grade review. Quinnen Williams notched a sack and knockdown of C.J. Stroud, including a hit where Stroud’s head bounced off the turf and forced him out to be evaluated for concussion.
Rookie spotlight: Jets center Joe Tippmann had an excellent day in run blocking, although his pass protection was a little more questionable. He gave up a sack and another hit, pending grade review. Tippmann’s development at center would be a very positive outcome for a Jets line that has been badly in need of reinforcements this season.
