Atlético couldn’t handle Barcelona in the first half and fall for the third time in LaLiga this season.
Oblak
Called on early to make strong stops and punches away from danger. Couldn’t do much to stop João Félix’s chip into the net. 4.5
Molina
Had no breathing room on the ball and was generally sloppy when he did control it. Tried to compensate by trying to draw fouls or pass the ball backward. Beaten to the ball by João Félix in the first half, who took his opportunity and scored on his former team. 4
Giménez
Had trouble controlling and organizing the back line during FC Barcelona’s peppering of the goal during the first 45 minutes. Picked up a yellow for a knee in the back of Robert Lewandowski. 4
Witsel
Lost track of the elusive Lewandowski in the opening minutes of the game, giving the usually-lethal striker a free header on net. Dialed in after his error and did well to sweep up attacks down the middle, making sure players had little time to act as they received the ball. 6
Hermoso
Ended the match with three tackles, two blocked shots, and two clearances. Hermoso had a composed night at the back but didn’t often have the kind space on the ball that is so crucial to Atlético Madrid’s buildup. 6
Riquelme
Subdued by Frenkie de Jong and Jules Koundé. Defensively, Raphinha and company frequently got the better of the 23-year-old. 3.5
Koke
Atlético’s skipper was swarmed in the first half, unable to influence the game beyond the stray switch of play. 4.5
Llorente
Fought and clawed his way through 90 minutes and looked much better at right wing-back than he did in midfield. Annoyed Pedri and João Cancelo plenty, just missed the end product. 5.5
De Paul
Sought out searching balls between lines and lofted passes to the feet of runners with minimal success. Defensively, de Paul added another body to close down attackers. 5
Griezmann
Didn’t have a decisive performance against his former club, unlike João Félix on the other side. Had only four touches in the Barcelona box over the 90 minutes. 4.5
Morata
Uneventful night, finished with only one shot on target. Atlético need him to be much more active in fighting through defenders and hunting for chances. 4
Lino
Replaced José Giménez to start the second half. Drew two dangerous free kicks late on, a nuisance for Ronaldo Araújo. 5.5
Correa
Replaced Rodrigo Riquelme to start the second half. Looked unfazed taking players on. Had a strike at goal in second-half stoppage time, but Iñaki Peña’s save prevented the Argentine from putting his name on the scoresheet. 5
Azpilicueta
Replaced Nahuel Molina to start the second half. Made two sloppy tackles on João Félix in the opening minutes of the half, gifting Barcelona some unnecessary free kicks and putting the veteran defender on the referee’s watchlist. 3.5
Memphis
Replaced Álvaro Morata in the 65th minute. Had the best chance of the night with a thunderous freekick just outside the 18-yard box. Was stopped by Peña, whose outstretched hand kept the lead intact. 6
Saúl
Replaced Koke in the 65th minute. Added some key interventions defensively, picking up three interceptions, a tackle, and a blocked shot. 5
