PITTSBURG, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) – After going toe-to-toe (and leading by double digits in the first half) with a team looking for their 5th straight state championship in Mill Valley, the Kapaun Crusaders were unable to finish the job getting outscored in the second half 28-7.
Following the loss in the big game, Kapaun head coach Weston Schartz said that when going up against a team with the resume as Mill Valley, it takes a near perfect performance, something they weren’t able to pull off for the entire game.
“We’d have to play a very, very good game and they’d have to make some mistakes,” Schartz said. “They’ve got numbers on us and size on us, but we’ve got a lot of heart. We were there fighting with them, going play-for-play and I’m proud to be in that locker room.”
