CLEVELAND – A Massillon military family was surprised Sunday at the Cleveland Browns game with a check for $25,000 toward their housing costs.
Steven and Jessica Truesdale received the money from CrossCountry Mortgage during the Browns’ Salute to Service game. November is National Veterans Month and Veterans Day is Nov. 11.
The Truesdale family, including their three children and all wearing Cleveland Browns gear, was welcomed onto the field during the game and a video about their service was played on the scoreboard. Former Cleveland Brown Eric Metcalf and CrossCountry Mortgage chief brand officer Laura Soave presented the family with an oversized check.
The Truesdales met while deployed overseas. They were married in 2009.

“The American dream of homeownership wouldn’t be possible without the selfless service of our military,” Laura Soave, CrossCountry Mortgage chief brand officer, said in a prepared statement. “Support for the military community is part of our always-on CCM Cares efforts, and we are honored to show support year-round to the brave individuals who protect our nation and our rights.”
