Iowa’s defense had a season-high six sacks and 12 TFL in the victory over Purdue. The Hawkeyes had a total of three sacks in Weeks 1-5.
Four Hawkeyes – DB Sebastian Castro, DB Cooper DeJean, LB Nick Jackson and P Tory Taylor – have earned Big Ten Conference weekly recognition this season.
LB Jay Higgins and LB Nick Jackson have combined for 127 tackles this season – the highest by a Power 5 tandem in the nation.
• TE Erick All has a team-high nine receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns in Iowa’s last two games. All is Iowa’s leading receiver with 19 catches for 280 yards and three touchdowns. The three TDs are a career high.
The Hawkeyes have intercepted five passes over their last two games, picking off Michigan State three times on Sept. 30 and Purdue twice on Oct. 7. The three INT game was the first for Iowa since 2021 against Northwestern.
The Hawkeyes have allowed 14 or fewer points in 12 of their last 19 games.
Inaugurated in 2004, the Heartland Trophy goes to the winner of the football battle between Iowa and Wisconsin. The trophy was designed and crafted by artist and former Iowa football player Frank Strub.
•Wisconsin leads the series, 7-5, since the inception of the Heartland Trophy in 2004. The trophy has resided in Iowa City since Iowa’s 24-10 win in Kinnick Stadium last season.
• Saturday will be the 97th meeting between Iowa and Wisconsin in a series that began in 1894. Through 96 games, Wisconsin leads 49-45-2.
• Iowa is 19-29-1 all-time in games played in Madison.
• The Hawkeyes have won two of the last three meetings against Wisconsin, winning 28-7 in 2020 and 24-10 in 2022. Both games were played in Iowa City.
• Iowa’s last victory in Madison came in 2015 – winning, 10-6.
