MW3 is introducing a completely new way for players to customize their weapons in the Gunsmith with Aftermarket Parts.
Call of Duty always introduces new and innovative ways to customize your loadouts and approach gunfights in its games. Most recently, the Modern Warfare series introduced the Gunsmith, which allowed players to unlock attachments more efficiently.
With MW3, Call of Duty is adding Aftermarket Parts to give some of the underused classes a chance to shine in the meta. Here is how this new function works and how you can use it to improve your loadout.
What Are Aftermarket Parts in MW3?
MW3 Aftermarket Parts are attachments that will allow players to alter their guns for a completely different experience. These special attachments are only unlocked after reaching the maximum level with a weapon and completing a set of challenges.
The first Aftermarket Parts that players can unlock when MW3 releases are Conversion Kits. These kits essentially add a new dimension to the weapon it is attached to. However, players can only use them on a specific weapon.
For example, the PULEMYOT 762 LMG will have a challenge after players reach the gun’s max level to get 25 kills while hip-firing or using Tac-Stance.

After completing this challenge, players will unlock the Aftermarket Conversion Kit, Jak Annihilator Bullup Kit.

This Conversion Kit will increase the LMG’s mobility, handling, rate of fire, and recoil when in Tac-Stance, turning it into one of the best run-and-gun weapons.
What makes this so exciting is that you would never see an LMG as a run-and-gun weapon, but with Aftermarket Parts, this is now a definite possibility.
Call of Duty will likely add more Aftermarket Parts as MW3 grows and they hear players’ opinions on it, but it’s a great new mechanic to keep an eye on since it adds a new dimension to building loadouts.
You can see a breakdown of the new mechanic and the PULEMYOT 762 LMG in the video below:
All Aftermarket Parts in MW3
Call of Duty has only revealed three Aftermarket Parts in MW3 so far, including:
- PULEMYOT 762 (LMG) – Jak Annihilator Bullup Kit (Conversion Kit)
- Unlocked by getting 25 kills while hip-firing or using Tac-Stance after reaching Max Level with PULEMYOT 762.
- Turns the LMG into a more mobile weapon to prioritize run-and-gun playstyles.
- Renetti (Handgun) – Jak Ferocity Carbine Kit (Conversion Kit)
- Unlocked by getting 30 kills with five attachments equipped after reaching Max Level with Renetti.
- Turns the Renetti from burst-fire into a fully automatic carbine that resembles an SMG.

- WSP Swarmwith (Handgun) – WSP Akimbo Brace Stocks (Conversion Kit)
- Unlocked by completing weekly challenges in the MW3 Preseason. We will update with details once they are revealed.
- Sacrifices range and mobility to allow players to equip fully automatic Akimbo WSP Swarmwith handguns.

These are the only Aftermarket Parts that Call of Duty has revealed thus far, but there will likely be plenty more when MW3 officially releases on November 10th.
