Fortnite has a new Redcap Skin and cosmetic items that players can get for free, but to do it, they’ll need to Refer a Friend and complete some challenges.
Playing battle royale with friends is one of the best ways to experience the Battle Bus, but sometimes friends forget about Fortnite and go off to play other games. This is why Epic Games created the Refer a Friend program.
The program gives players multiple rewards for bringing their friends back into Fortnite. This time around, Fortnite will give players who participate in Refer a Friend a Redcap Skin, and here’s exactly how you can do that.
How to Get Redcap Skin in Fortnite
To get the Redcap Skin in Fortnite, you’ll need to participate in the Refer A Friend program and complete all the following five tasks with your chosen friend:
- Refer a friend to join you in the event.
- Play 1 Fortnite match (Battle Royale or Zero Build) with the friend that you selected in the prior step.
- Place Top 10 in Fortnite 6 times with the friend that you selected.
- Eliminate 45 enemies in Fortnite with your friend.
- Both of your kills will contribute to the total.
- Gain 50 Account Levels with your friend.
- This is cumulative, so both your levels and your friends will count toward the total.
How to Refer A Friend in Fortnite
Here is how you Refer A Friend in Fortnite and get a free Redcap skin, along with other rewards:
- Log in using your Fortnite/Epic Games account on the official Refer A Friend site.
- Scroll down to your “Friend List.”
- Select “Add A Friend” to bring up your list of eligible friends.
- Eligible friends are new or returning players who have not played 2 hours of Battle Royale or Zero Build in the past 30 Days.
- Choose a friend that you want to complete the in-game objectives with. We suggest choosing a friend who is still actively gaming. This way, you can convince them to jump back into Fortnite.
- Your friend will also earn rewards without needing to register online.
- After you choose a friend and add them to your Refer A Friend list, you will complete Task #1 and earn the Redcap Spray.

If you complete all five tasks in the Refer A Friend program, then you will receive all of the following rewards:
- Redcap’s Revenge Spray – Complete Task #1
- Wild Redcap Wrap – Complete Task #2
- Portable Portobello Back Bling – Complete Task #3
- Shiitake Slasher Pickaxe – Complete Task #4
- Redcap Skin – Complete Task #5
It may seem like quite a bit just to get one skin, but it also allows you to reunite with an old Fortnite friend and see everything that’s changed since they last played.
