Japanese developer Technobrain announced a new DLC for the Steam version of its ATC simulator I Am an Air Traffic Controller 4.
The DLC includes Osaka Itami Airport (RJOO), which is definitely an interesting addition since it’s one of the few major airports in Japan to be located within an urban area.
It also has two very different runways of vastly different length that make operation more complex. On top of that, one side is blocked by mountains, enabling the rare “Itami Turn” circling approach maneuver when the wind conditions require it
Another aspect that makes the airport interesting is that it hosts a wide variety of widebody, narrowbody, regional jet, and regional turboprop flights. On top of that, the DLC features VIP flights including the American Air Force One and the Japanese Boeing 777 counterpart.

I am an Air Traffic Controller is a long-running franchise in Japan, having debuted back in 1998. The fourth fourth game launched on Steam in 2020 featuring Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The first DLC focusing on Naha Airport in Okinawa was released in 2021, and we got New Chitose Airport Hokkaido in 2022.
Incidentally, if you want to play on Switch, a dedicated version titled I am an Air Traffic Controller – Airport Hero Haneda is also available, published by Sonic Powered.
An improved version titled I Am an Air Traffic Controller – Airport hero Haneda All Stars is coming on October 19 featuring real-world airlines for the first time in English (a feature I really wish would come to the Steam version).
Technobrain is also known for its excellent flight simulator airports, and they already released two for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Yao and Kansai International Airport. At the moment, they’re working on Tokyo Haneda.
