Hogwarts Legacy 2 Is Reportedly in Development, Here Are the Details

Hogwarts Legacy, the popular AAA RPG game from Warner Bros. Games is reportedly set to get a sequel. This news comes about seven months after the game launched on the global market. For people who are not aware, Hogwarts Legacy is set 80 years before the events in the main storyline of the iconic franchise, Harry Potter.

Given the game is set in the Harry Potter universe and the quality of the game, it has become one of the best-selling titles of 2023. Let’s check all the details here around the claims that Hogwarts Legacy sequel is currently in development.

Rumors about Hogwarts Legacy 2

According to a report from Insider Gaming, X (formerly Twitter) user @MyTimeToShineH claimed that their sources stated that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in the works. Whether it is true or not, it is certainly not a far-fetched claim due to the popularity of Hogwarts Legacy.

The game from publisher Warner Bros. and game developer Avalanche Software has been a tremendous commercial success. The game sold over 12 million copies and brought in over $850 million in global sales income within two weeks of the game’s release on February 10, 2023.

Back in April, Warner Bros. Senior Global Brand Manager, Arien Darby accidentally revealed that Hogwarts Legacy sold 256% more than what was predicted. Darby also noted that Hogwarts Legacy had also broken the all-time Twitch record for most peak concurrent viewers ever for a single player game with 1.3M views to its name.

It is also worth noting that the rumors or guess around Hogwarts Legacy 2 is not new. X user “Timur222” with the handle “@bogorad222” who first spotted the information from Darby posed a question about the sequel in April when Paul Burgess, a programmer at Studio Gobo updated his LinkedIn bio to work on “an unannounced UE5 title”. Burgess previously worked on Hogwarts Legacy at Avalanche Software.

We are not sure if these claims are true as Warner Bros. Games has not officially announced the sequel. Until then, take this information with a grain of salt. If the report does turn out to be true, let’s hope the future studio for the Hogwarts Legacy Sequel can further develop the game. Considering the many secrets that have been mentioned but not revealed in the game, the sequel has enough loose ends to tie in the Hogwarts Legacy story. Avalanche Software is also rumoured to be working on a new game from the Harry Potter universe.

In the meantime, Hogwarts Legacy is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X and S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store and Nintendo Switch. The game is available at a 30 percent discount for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC at the time of writing.
