Gunzilla Games has released a new gamescom gameplay trailer (via IGN) for the upcoming battle royale game Off the Grid. The narrated trailer shows off several cutscenes and gameplay elements including weapons, and traversal tools such as jetpacks, grapple hooks, and more. The game will feature both PVP and PVE elements, will host up to 150 players, and will sport a 60-hour narrative. In Off the Grid, players are thrown into a “covert corporate war between three companies on the tropical, dystopian Teardrop Island.” The game’s release date has yet to be revealed but the game will launch “soon” in 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Off The Grid throws players into a covert corporate war between three companies on the tropical, dystopian Teardrop Island. Blending PvE and PvP, you’ll experience hectic 150-player battle royales as a cyberlimbed Zero, fighting to survive while simultaneously taking on a 60-hour narrative campaign. Extract high-value loot and upgrade your body with cybernetic limbs to give yourself the edge to reach the top.
Gunzilla Games CEO Vlad Korolov commented on the announcement saying:
“Off The Grid is evolving the battle royale genre for the industry. With the creative brilliance of Neill Blomkamp and the introduction of innovative gameplay mechanics, we’re offering unprecedented depth that complements the sheer thrill of battle royale competition.”

Set within a dystopian future, the cyberpunk styled shooter plans to evolve the genre through strong emphasis on narrative progression, led by Chief Visionary Officer Neill Blomkamp and Script Writer Richard K. Morgan. In addition, industry veteran Olivier Henriot (Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed) assumes the role of Executive Narrative Director, ensuring a wealth of top-tier talent to bring the world of Off The Grid to life.
A Battle Royale like no other, in Off The Grid, 150 players fight each other in player-versus-player skirmishes, as well as player-versus-environment storyline missions using the same map inhabited by other players in real time. Players have the freedom to control how the hard-boiled story unfolds, with each decision made directly impacting everyone’s gameplay. Core to the experience and deep narrative structure is the unique way in which players can craft, customize, and trade their in-game items with each other.
