Microsoft has confirmed that after trialing the subscription plan for almost a year, the Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family preview is closing next month.
A limited preview of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family plan began last September in Ireland and Colombia and offered up to five users full access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a pretty tasty discount when compared to individual subscriptions. Now, Microsoft has said it is ending the Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family preview on August 15.

Speaking with Eurogamer, a Microsoft spokesperson said, “We’re excited about how the Friends and Family plan has resonated with gamers and will be evaluating the learnings to help create an offer that we can bring to more players worldwide in the future.
“All active members of the Friends and Family plan will receive an Xbox Game Pass offer as a thank you for participating and a way to ensure they can continue to play the games they love after the preview ends.”
Microsoft hasn’t said anything else about the Friends and Family plan, but hopefully, it will share more details about the subscription soon and when it will roll out to everybody.
Last week, Microsoft increased the price of Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions in most countries. A standard Game Pass subscription now costs $10.99 / £8.99 / €10.99 per month, whereas a month of Ultimate will set you back $16.99 / £12.99 / €14.99.
Microsoft also recently changed the Xbox Live Gold to Xbox Game Pass conversion rate.
