Today Koei Tecmo announced that it’ll attend Fate/Grand Order Fes 2023 later this mong and it’ll bring news about Fate/Samurai Remnant.
The publisher will have a booth themed after the world of the game and promised to reveal a new servant that will appear in the game for the first time. If you’re unfamiliar with the word “Servant,” it’s how the historical heroes who are at the core of the Fate series are named.
It’s worth mentioning that the possibility that we’ll see more than one new Servant exists. Since the press release is in Japanese and the language doesn’t really differentiate between plural and singular. While the specific context and wording don’t help here, this kind of licensed game usually includes one new character, so my personal guess is that this is intended as singular, but take it with a grain of salt.
A special stage show will also be hosted on Saturday, July 29 at 11:15 am Japan Time, which translates into 7:15 pm PDT on July 28, 10:15 pm EDT, 3:15 am BST on the 29th, and 4:15 CEST. The panel will be livestreamed and will star Iori Miyamoto’s voice actor Kengo Kawanishi and Saber’s voice actress Hibiki Yamamura. Among other things, the show promises live gameplay.
If you’re not familiar with it, Fate/Grand Order Fest is an event dedicated to the ultra-popular mobile game that also serves as a celebration for the franchise. It’ll be hosted at the Makuhari Messe venue in Chiba, near Tokyo, on July 29 and July 30, 2023.
Fate/Samurai Remnant will release on September 28, 2023, for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch in Japan, while the western release will be on September 29 for the same platforms. If you’d like to see more of the game, you can enjoy a recent trailer.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Fate series, it debuted in 2004 with the adult-oriented visual novel titled Fate/stay night. Like many popular franchises that started as eroge, it has since relinquished its adult nature (albeit it retained plenty of fanservice) becoming a massive multimedia IP including anime, manga, and more, the ultra-popular Fate/Grand Order mobile game contributed to cementing its popularity worldwide.
