Titanfall is one of the most beloved video game series. It combines sweet parkour moves with giant mechs, and there’s no other like it. Titanfall 2 tops that with a great single-player campaign, which improved an excellent game. Following the pattern, a Titanfall 3 game should improve the series. However, that is not the case.
Good News and Bad News for Titanfall Fans
With good news first, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella has expressed his desire for a Titanfall 3 game. It bodes well for any fan wanting a third game. The bad news is that as much as he wants one, it’s not time, nor do they have the resources to make it.
Respawn Entertainment is busy with Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi franchises. Although you might think EA is somehow stopping its production, it’s not the only reason. Through the years, staff has left and been replaced, so most of those who worked on the Titanfall series have moved on.
Not Canceled, But Also Not in Production
A game can’t be canceled if it was never in development in the first place. So the game isn’t, and there is a slight bit of hope production will start. Still, with most of their focus on other games, development won’t start for a long time.
The Actual Canceled Titanfall Game
The working title was Titanfall Legends, set in the same shared universe as Apex and TF. It was supposed to feature BT-7274. You could repair or upgrade it in the Rampart and then pilot it in the level. The protagonist was supposed to be Kuben Blisk, and he was supposed to have help from the Apex Legends heroes by borrowing their powers.
It would’ve expanded the world’s lore, such as showing the location of the Ark. Gameplay was supposed to be a mix of fast-paced parkour courses and heart-thumping action during combat—basically, a mix of Doom (combat) and Mirror’s Edge.
A Ray of Hope
Some former Respawn employees have formed Wildlight. Curiously, most of them have worked on either Apex Legends or Titanfall. If they’re there to pick the franchise up, it just might be what the series needs for Titanfall 3. Still, they would have to wrangle with getting the rights from EA to do it. If all goes well, though, they already have the people who know all about the game and how it was made.
What Would Titanfall 3 Look Like?
It would, of course, still have the parkour and mech as its main features. It is iconic and representative of the series, after all. After that, there should be a continuation of the single-player campaign. With a plot that’s as gripping as the one before it, that should keep the fans going for a long while. Add that to an exciting multiplayer feature, and you’re all set. While microtransactions are a player’s worst nightmare, they’re there to make the higher-ups happy.
Of course, it would also have improved graphics and brand-new features. Though we don’t know what it is, as long as it’s implemented well, it should make the game more unique. Even if it is part of a series, it has to distinguish itself from its predecessors.
It would likely be playable on the latest consoles. It will be on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S if it releases anytime soon. PC users won’t be exempt, but it will only run with the fastest processors and best graphics cards.
Settle in For a Long Wait
While Titanfall 3 isn’t canceled, it will not be released anytime soon. Apex Legends might be set in the same universe, but without the Titans, it’s not the same. Still, it can fill in the gap while waiting. Depending on whether you like the parkour bits, the mech, or FPS combat, there are a few other games to try.

As for FPS, there are so many. You got battle royales (Apex, PUBG), the Call of Duty franchise, and even something like Escape from Tarkov. There are so many flavors, too, like zombie shooters (Left 4 Dead), survival shooters (Metro 2033), or tactical team ones (Counter-Strike, Valorant).
It’s best not to think about Titanfall 3 for a while because it’s a pipe dream until something official gets announced. Still, you can have fun with other games while waiting a long time.
