Respawn Entertainment is back with another game featuring Jedi Cal Kestis, but how old is the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?
In Fallen Order, we got a look at Cal’s time as a Padawan under Jedi Master Jaro Tapal. Now, our hero is all grown up, but how old is he at the start of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?
How Old Is Cal Kestis in Jedi Survivor?
Cal Kestis is around 23 years old at the start of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game takes place 5 years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, in which Cal was 18.
Although Fallen Order never explicitly states Cal Kestis’ age, we do have a clue straight from the protagonist’s actor Cameron Monaghan.
According to Monaghan in an interview with Esquire: “[Cal] being trained was part of the status quo for the first 13 years of his life”.
Therefore, when we see Cal as a Padawan in Fallen Order flashbacks, he was only around 13 years old when Order 66 was initiated in 19 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). This would put his date of birth as being around 32 BBY.
When we’re first introduced to Cal Kestis at the start of Fallen Order, it has been approximately 5 years since he went into hiding from the Great Jedi Purge (14 BBY).
Given the fact that the story of Fallen Order all takes place in the same year, and it’s been 5 years since the events of the first game, Cal Kestis must therefore be 23 at the time of Jedi: Survivor’s beginning.
Interestingly, since Jedi: Survivor takes place in 9 BBY, that places it in a very interesting section of the Star Wars timeline.
In fact, it was the same year that the Obi-Wan Kenobi show events took place and only a year after Han Solo met Chewbacca.
As of right now, we don’t know whether the story of Survivor will span several years. Most likely, it’ll all take place over a short period of time, leaving our protagonist in his early twenties for the time being.
