Today Ubisoft revealed the first season of the eighth year of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, including plenty of news.
The new season, which was teased yesterday, is titled “Operation Commanding Force” and will start on March 7.
The main dish on the menu is the new operator from Brazil, Brava, who happens to be Capitão’s cousin. Her gadget, the Kludge drone, allows her to hack other operators’ gadgets and turn them against them.
A new anti-cheat feature named “Mouse Trap” will try to detect input spoofing devices that let players on consoles use keyboard and mouse. It will apply a dynamic input lag to those detected to level the playing field and force players to switch back to the controllers. This shouldn’t affect disabled players using adaptive controllers. The code of conduct will also be updated to explicitly disallow third-party spoofing devices.
That being said, this is not the final iteration of the system, as it’s something new the developers are trying so it’s still experimental.
New anti-toxicity measures will also automatically mute the worst repeat offenders for a bunch of matches requiring their teammates to unmute them manually if they want to hear them.
Balancing changes bring the removal of reload canceling and more, while the onboarding experience for new players will be improved with the Beginner’s Challenges.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been out for quite a while, and unlike its successor Rainbow Six Extraction, it has enjoyed great popularity among fans despite the slow start, contributing very consistently to Ubisoft’s earnings.
The game is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
