Infinity Ward has revealed exciting new details about its upcoming Warzone 2 Resurgence map, which seems to release faster than we think.
Warzone 2 has had a rough past few weeks. The player count has seen better days, and multiple issues have caused the community to grow frustrated.
Thankfully, Warzone 2 Season 2 looks to reinvent the battle royale to benefit the community. This means plenty of new changes and even a new Resurgence map.
What Is the Warzone 2 Resurgence Map Called?
Infinity Ward has announced that the new Warzone 2 Resurgence map is called “Ashika Island”. This is the first new map in Warzone 2 and the first Resurgence map.
Resurgence usually refers to a smaller, more compact battle royale map, where the action is quick and sudden. Usually, these smaller maps feature faster gameplay and more frequent encounters with other players.
There is no gulag; instead, players are redeployed in time intervals. As long as one player in the team is alive, all other players will redeploy.
It functions similarly to the gulag, where at one point, redeployment will close. The only way to bring back teammates is from a Buy Station.
In the original Warzone, Rebirth Island became more popular than Caldera towards the end of its lifecycle. So there may be players who prefer Warzone 2 Resurgence over Al Mazrah.

Warzone 2 Resurgence Tac Map Reveal Date
Infinity Ward will reveal the Warzone 2 Resurgence map, Ashika Island, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. They have not specified an exact time, but Call of Duty news tends to release at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT.
In this reveal, players can expect to see their first look at Ashika Island and any changes that Infinity Ward may bring to Resurgence.
When Infinity Ward first released Warzone 2, it was very different from the original Warzone experience. Since then, they’ve updated it to resemble each other more. Season 2 looks to bridge the gap between them even more.
Warzone 2 is changing its entire economy to help players gather resources more quickly, especially toward the end of the game.
This means that Resurgence could either be similar to the original Warzone or take a similar approach to Warzone 2 and change things first to see how the community receives them.

Ashika Island Tac Map Outline is Identical to Leaks
Here is what Ashika Island may look like, according to some recent leaks:
The map on the left was a leak that appeared in December 2022. The image on the right showcases an outline shown in the official Warzone 2 Resurgence map teaser from Infinity Ward.
Both outlines have a large resemblance, so it’s possible the leak was true. Most images of the leak were taken down by Activision, which also highlights the validity of the leak.
If true, this means Ashika Island will be about 50 players and will also function as a DMZ and Ground War map.
