However, for those hoping it will last as long as Game of Thrones, you may want to temper your expectations. When talking to Consequence, Mazin stated that The Last of Us will not last six or seven seasons.
It is also worth noting that The Last of Us was the second-largest debut on HBO’s streaming service. It had over 10 million views in the US alone in its first two days on the platform.
Additionally, it has garnered fan support as it currently sits at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and has a score of 9.3 on IMDb.
The Last of Us has also had quite a surprising critical reception, especially considering it is a video game adaptation.

If The Last of Us gets a second season, it will likely not arrive until around 2024. The first season was cast in 2020 and then filmed between 2021 and 2022.
