New rumors suggest that Warzone 2 / MW2 Season 2 is being delayed from February 1 to February 15. However, Activision is yet to comment on the 2-week delay, which is said to have been discovered via a new datamine of the game files.
Right now, all eyes are on Modern Warfare 2’s second season to ‘save’ the game. Despite boasting incredible sales, fans are getting fed up with the latest Call of Duty title’s lack of content and major gameplay issues.
According to the in-game Battle Pass countdown, Warzone 2 & MW2 Season 2 should begin on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
However, a new rumor suggests that the update could be getting pushed back to later in the month. According to leaker CODSploitzImgs, who has accurately leaked release dates for past store bundles, the game files now suggest that Season 02 will kick off on February 15.
According to the user, the final Season 1 bundle will arrive on February 2. They also claim that “dates end” on February 15, indicating that Season 2 will debut shortly afterward.
In the past, the leaker claims, all store refresh dates have ended prior to the start of the next season.
If true, this would reflect last year’s situation perfectly, where Call of Duty Vanguard Season 2 was pushed from February 2-14 in order to fix issues and apply further polish to the game’s next major update.
Why Would Season 2 Be Delayed?
Perhaps Activision’s studios simply struggle to ramp up production again, following their annual Winter break. And if the leaks of a new Resurgence map coming in Season 2 are true, that could explain why Activision needs a little more time to prepare.

Season 2 of MW2 & Warzone 2 already had its key art leak almost 2 months ago. If this leak proves true, we’ll be seeing a Japan theme and the return of the Castle map this February.
It’s worth noting that dates attached to upcoming store bundles don’t guarantee that Season 2 will be delayed. But we’ll be keeping our eye on Activision’s official channels all the same.
Regardless of when Season 2 arrives, the update needs to be what fans are hoping for. Evidence suggests that Warzone 2’s player count is dropping fast, as players tire of the new Battle Royale’s issues.
