It’s been a few years since we last heard from Rare about its new IP Everwild, but executive producer Louise O’Connor says the team is looking to “warm up… for our year ahead.”
Everwild caught everyone’s attention when it was announced back in 2019 as a big upcoming title from an Xbox Game Studios team, with an eye-catching art style and the promise of an intriguing new world. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Everwild, though, apart from a report that it has been rebooted with a 2024 launch in mind, so it’s good to see confirmation that Everwild is still on the way.
“It’s been an incredibly busy few weeks as we warm up on team Everwild for our year ahead,” says executive producer Louise O’Connor, before asking fans what they’d like to see now she’s back in the studio. It’s just a scrap of information, confirming that Everwild is still on the cards, but we’ll take what we can get; we’ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
What we know about Everwild so far is that we’ll play as one of the Eternals, who share a connection with nature and with Everwild’s strange creatures, and who try to protect them against a strange wave of locust-like insects. There seems to be a lot of mystery and magic in Everwild’s world, such as the creature in the sky at the end of the trailer above.
There’s no hint yet on when we might hear more about Rare’s elusive Everwild, but we’ll keep an eye out. When do you think we’ll learn more about the game? Let us know in the comments!
