Third-party developers have shared news about upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, including aircraft and an airport.
We start with Just Flight, which released the first development update of the previously announced Fokker 100 and 70, alongside a few screenshots of both the exterior and the flight deck.
The flight deck, exterior models, textures, and liveries of the 100 model are being tested, while the dynamic lighting for both the flight deck and the exterior has been added. Work will soon begin on the 70 model and the passenger cabin.
Next, we hear from DC Designs. The F-4 Phantoms had their exterior PBR work completed, while grime layers are being added since the “dirty” look was very common for the Phantoms. The cockpit is still in a phase where there isn’t much to show yet. More details will be worked on soon.
“As soon as exterior textures are complete, I will add the F-4E nose detail, with the FGR2 “TESS” scope and Spey engine doors also being animated ready for the British Phantom versions. High-detail landing gear will follow soon after.”
You can check out a couple of pictures below, plus one of the freeware F/A-18C Hornet, which is just awaiting the completion of the code for the Up Front Control Panel. The custom flight model has been completed and features the aircraft’s high-alpha capabilities. Unfortunately, it’s almost certain that this won’t be released for Xbox due to the presence of the official F/A-18E.
Last, but not least, Orbx announced Launceston Airport (YMLT) in Tasmania, Australia. It’s a regional airport serving quite a few scheduled flights operated by several airlines on top of freight operations. It’s designed by Ken Hall, a local developer who was able to have direct access to the location take hundreds of referent photos and create a highly-detailed reproduction.
Here’s what you can expect.
- Home to the North East Royal Flying Doctor Service, its hanger and main building are modelled in detail
- PBR textures created from hundreds of recent airside photos
- All airside buildings and hangars faithfully created in high detail
- Static Sharp Airlines Metroliners
