PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) Trey Inexperienced led Saint Louis with 21 factors and Kellen Thames hit the game-winning layup with eight seconds left because the Billikens knocked off Santa Clara 71-70 on Thursday evening on the Acrisure Invitational.
Inexperienced went 7 of 14 from the sphere (6 for 13 from 3-point vary) for the Billikens (6-0). Dion Brown added 13 factors whereas capturing 5 of 9 from the sphere and three for 4 from the free-throw line and had 5 rebounds and three steals. Thames completed 5 of 5 from the ground to complete with 11 factors. It was the sixth win in a row for the Billikens.
The Broncos (6-1) have been led in scoring by Elijah Mahi, who completed with 18 factors and 7 rebounds. Allen Graves added 13 factors and three steals for Santa Clara. Christian Hammond additionally had 11 factors. The loss broke the Broncos’ six-game successful streak.
Inexperienced scored 12 factors within the first half and Saint Louis went into the break trailing 35-31. Brown led Saint Louis with 13 factors within the second half. Saint Louis outscored Santa Clara by 5 factors over the ultimate half.
