Hi everyone.
So first thing first, i know online gaming is not for everyone. If its not your thing its totally fine ! Enjoy the type of game you want.
But some of us really love online gaming, more precisely competitive shooters, and altough i can’t speak for everyone, i think a huge %, pretty sure a majority, really enjoy stats. Some are more “stats junky” than others yes, but who does not enjoy to see when they did a great game or see their improvement over time (KD/WL improving etc) in a competitive online shooter.
Yes there is surely casual players who don’t care or even players who are still enjoying the game but are not very good at it and would prefer not to see their records, but again i am pretty sure its not the majority.
Yet lately it seem to be more and more a trend. Gears 5 launched with terrible stats, wich has been partially fixed since. Now you can see total kills, kd, total wins etc. But due to the many chances made to the game modes (especially rank) some stats seem to just be gone (like wins in KOTH when it was a rank mode before being replaced by Control) and if i look at my 2v2 gnasher stats, the wins and losses do not matches with total game played…
More recently a few of the last games i played… Halo Infinite at launch had nothing. No idea if its been updated (i kinda stopped playing a while ago). Only way to track stats in some way was trough a third party side on a computer or phone. Better than nothing sure but cmon..
Crossfire X, not a great game by any mean, but i wanted my 100 wins for the achievement and eventually i realized i was beating hard on this game once i unlocked that LMG gun, doing stuff like 30 kills for 12 deaths etc. You could see stats at end of the game but unless you recorded every single stats of every games, there is no combat record of any kind. Wich make playing pointless to me… I love stats, im addicted to stats and upping a kill count etc, thats the drive for me to play a game, performing.
And tonight i stumble on this. Warzone 2.0 Gets Stats Soon, But Your Current Kills Don’t Count (kotaku.com)
COD.. freaking COD, THE GAME that always had a very solid combat record stats page. What where they thinking? Good thing its getting patched in but sucks for the peoples who played since release and nothing will be recorded from that period.
Now again, i know some peoples will say they play for fun and stats are not important to them. Its cool if you do. But peoples like me need them. And its been a standard of online gaming since pretty much the early days of 360. I mean sure some games had no stats (COD2) but it didn’t took long to have them in pretty much every games. But nowadays they don’t include them by default always. It need to change. Hopefully this backlash help making it a standard again.
