Trail thrashers are basically dirt bikes but where can you find them on the new island of Asteria, in Fortnite Chapter 4?
Over the weekend, Fortnite entered Chapter 4 Season 1, not only bringing with it a new map but also Geralt from the Witcher games, among other character cameos.
Although the game has previously featured all sorts of insane vehicles – such as rideable flying saucers – one very basic form of transportation has been missing from it: dirt bikes.
Now, dirt bikes, or trail thrashers as they’re called, are officially a part of Fortnite, although you’ll need to look around carefully if you want to ride one on the new Asteria map.
Where can you find dirt bikes in Fortnite?
If you have a look around your nearest gas station or garage, you’ll very likely find a dirt bike waiting for you – particularly around grassy and dusty regions.
Most of the drops are random but dirt bikes can be found in set locations as well, even though it might not seem that way at first.
From the picture below, you can see there is a big concentration of dirt bikes parked:
- South of Faulty Splits (southeast)
- All around Frenzy Fields (southwest)
- All around Shattered Labs (west)
- At King’s Launch and Breakwater Bay north of the Citadel (northwest)
- Scattered all around the icy parts of Asteria (north)

How to use dirt bikes in Fortnite
Finding and riding a dirt bike in the game can prove particularly useful when it comes to escaping fights.
However, once you become a skilled rider you can also try shooting nearby enemies, making it significantly easier to get kills in the early stages of the game.
Unfortunately, you cannot build while riding a dirt bike, but your passenger can – that’s right, trail thrashers can seat up to two players.
All you need to do to get started is go near one of the bikes and press the interact hotkey.
Be careful when riding a dirt bike, as these vehicles have limited fuel, meaning if it runs out you could be left stranded somewhere you don’t want to be.
Luckily, fuel can be refilled using a gas can, given that you’re carrying one, or by visiting the nearest gas station to use one of its petrol pumps.
Again, be aware of your surroundings while filling up your dirt bike’s tank, as if an opponent shoots a gas can out of your hands, it will cause it to explode, dealing large amounts of damage.
