Video game movies have been seeing a huge resurgence in recent years, with the Sonic movies and The Super Mario Bros. Movie being the biggest of examples of this. The list is about to get even longer, due to the announcement of another franchise that will be getting a movie.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Amazon Studios, Unanimous Media and Story Kitchen are working on a ToeJam and Earl movie. Hotel Transylvania 4 writers Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo will “pen the screenplay”. The ToeJam and Earl franchise have had 4 game releases, 2 of which released on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. The first game released in 1991. The most recent release was ToeJam & Earl: Back In The Groove in 2019.
