Buoyed by a four-run seventh inning, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies compelled a winner-take-all Sport 3 within the Jap League championship collection with a 5-4 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Sept. 23.
Sport 3 of the best-of-three collection is scheduled for six:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at UPMC Park in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Erie won Game 1, 14-5, on Sept. 21 at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton.
The Rumble Ponies entered the seventh inning of Tuesday’s contest trailing 2-1. Jacob Reimer capped a four-run inning with a two-run, two out single to provide Binghamton a 5-2 lead.
Wyatt Younger’s bases-loaded stroll earlier within the seventh tied the rating 2-2. A.J. Ewing adopted with an RBI single to provide Binghamton a 3-2 benefit.
Erie scored twice within the backside of the seventh off Ryan Lambert to get inside one. Lambert induced a double play off the bat of Thayron Liranzo to finish the inning.
Ben Simon pitched excellent eighth and ninth innings to protect the victory.
Felipe De La Cruz went 4 innings of reduction for Binghamton and earned the win. He allowed one run on two hits, hanging out three. The lone Erie run off him got here on a homer from Liranzo within the sixth inning that broke a 1-1 tie.
Binghamton’s Chris Suero went 2-for-3 with a run. Reimer was 2-for-4 and Younger went 2-for-3 with two runs and a stroll.
Reimer put Binghamton up 1-0 within the third with an RBI double.
Erie is searching for its third consecutive title within the Double-A Jap League, a streak that began in 2023 with a sweep of the Rumble Ponies.
Binghamton is chasing its first championship since a 3-0 sweep of the Richmond Flying Squirrels in 2014. The Rumble Ponies additionally received titles in 1992 and 1994.
The Rumble Ponies are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Erie is affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
