The classic Pokemon Magnemite and its evolution Magneton first received a third-level evolution into the flying-saucer-like Magnezone back in Generation 4.
Although the original evolution in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl required a special magnetic field, in later releases, including Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, this method is simplified.
Evolving this Electric and Steel-type Pokemon across all its evolutions is fairly straightforward but below is everything you need to know.
Can You Evolve Magneton Into Magnezone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Yes, you can evolve a Magneton of any level into Magnezone by giving the Thunder Stone to it in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
To get the Thunderstone, either find one in the open world or purchase one from the Delibird Presents shop.
As soon as you level up your Magnemite to a Magneton at Level 30, or if you catch a wild one, you can go into your menu and give it a Thunder Stone, which will immediately evolve it.

- Open your Menu with the “X” button.
- Select the “Bag” option with the “Left Analog Stick” under “Main Menu.”
- With the same stick, scroll over the candy icon, then go down to the Thunder Stone.
- Press the “A” button to select it.
- Select “Use this item.”
- Then, with the left analog stick, confirm Magneton with “A.”
- I already evolved Magneton, but it would say “Can Use” in green below it.
Then sit back and watch the Magneton evolve.
How Do You Get the Thunder Stone?
To get the Thunder Stone, purchase one from Delibird Presents for 3000 League Points or Poke Dollars. Or search the open world for sparkling spots and glowing Poke Balls.
The easiest way to get a Thunder Stone is to go to Mesagoza, at the center of the Paldea below The Great Paldea Crater, and stop at any of the three Delibird Presents shops.
Once there, scroll over to the “General Items.” section of the store, and then you should see the Thunder Stone, along with the other stones available.
Where Can You Catch Magnemite or Magneton?
You can catch Magnemite in the East Province, while the best place to find Magneton is in the North Province or around Glaseado Mountain.
The habitat guide also mentions that Magneton and Magnemite fly “high…on rainy days,” perhaps indicating that neither is found in the rain or that they go to higher terrain.

Equip a ground-type pokemon when challenging either Magnemite or Magneton. Also, know that because of its Sturdy ability, it can often withstand pretty much any attack with one HP, making it an easy catch with super effective moves.

How Do You Evolve Magnemite into Magneton
To evolve Magnemite into Magneton, level it up in battle or with Exp. or Rare Candy until it reaches Level 30.
Once it hits Level 30, it will evolve automatically, which can be canceled by pressing the “B” button. After, Magneton learns the high-damage Normal-type move Tri Attack.
What Are Magnezone’s Strengths and Weaknesses?
Magnezone is weak against Ground, Fire, and Fighting-type Pokemon and strong against Ice, Rock, Fairy, Flying, and Water-type Pokemon.
It can also learn a variety of Steel, Psychic, Electric, and Normal-type moves. Also, the Magnet Rise ability it learns levitates Magnezone for five turns, nullifying ground attacks, its biggest weakness.
