It has been reported that the small-scale Warzone maps, Rebirth Island and Fortunes Keep will be removed when Warzone 2.0 launches.
The closer we get to the launch of Warzone 2, the more news we get. However, while some of the news hints at positive changes to the title, a lot of it is upsetting fans.
One piece of news is the revelation that the popular smaller-scale maps, Rebirth Island and Fortunes Keep could be disappearing.
This piece of news won’t go down well with the Warzone community, especially not after the extremely mixed reactions to early Warzone 2 gameplay.
Rebirth Island & Fortunes Keep Removed From Warzone
According to prominent Call of Duty leaker Hope, Rebirth Island and Fortunes Keep will be completely removed from Warzone when Warzone 2.0 launches.
Warzone has always had a focus on its large-scale maps, Verdansk and Caldera. These maps offer players a more traditional Battle Royale experience within a Call of Duty framework.
However, for players looking for a more intense, close-quarters Battle Royale experience, they offered Rebirth Island and Fortunes Keep.
Unfortunately, the leak suggests that as Warzone 2 focuses on the enormous brand-new Al Mazrah map and its iconic POIs, the smaller Rebirth Island and Fortune Keep will be removed.
Rebirth Island and Fortunes Keep will not be the first maps to be removed from Warzone. The iconic Verdansk map was removed with the introduction of Caldera, which now appears to be the only legacy map sticking around in the original Warzone.
This is also not the first leak surrounding Warzone 2 and altered features. In fact, recently a leak from Metaphor claimed there will be massive AI and loadout changes coming to Warzone 2.
Of course, it is worth noting that this is just a leak. Nothing official has been confirmed by Activision, so take this one with a pinch of salt. We may just have to wait until Warzone 2’s release date to learn more.
