Some players are wondering if the Warzone 2.0 option in the Modern Warfare 2 beta will remain locked or if it will open up at some point.
Call of Duty NEXT showcased the first gameplay for Warzone 2.0. This created hype for the upcoming battle royale and even started conversations regarding the map and gameplay.
Now, with the MW2 beta, it seems that Call of Duty is teasing players by displaying a locked Warzone 2.0 option in the main menu.
But will it remain locked for the duration of the beta? Here’s everything we know.
Will Warzone 2.0 Remain Locked During the MW2 Beta?
Warzone 2.0 is locked because it isn’t yet playable by the public. The build is not ready for public use.
Warzone 2.0 will highly likely remain locked for the remainder of the Modern Warfare 2 Beta.
Streamers were able to play an early Alpha version during CoD NEXT with it seemingly a reasonable way away from any potential Beta stage.
There are a few theories as to why it may be on the menu currently, including:
- Left there from the Call of Duty NEXT event where streamers had access to the MW2 Open Beta & Warzone 2.0 player lobbies
- A way for Infinity Ward to generate hype for Warzone 2.0 by showcasing it anytime someone players the MW2 beta
Although, there is no official reason why Warzone 2.0 is currently a locked option in the Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta.
Some players, however, have been able to access the Warzone 2.0 menu accidentally.
Furthermore, the chances that we see Warzone 2.0 unlocked at any point during the MW2 beta are very low. It is likely that Infinity Ward still needs time to prepare for the upcoming launch in November.
