Just days away from Fortnite Season 4, a player couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw a Loot Shark flying around the map.
Developer Epic Games added Loot Sharks to the battle royale two years ago during Chapter 2 Season 3.
You can only find them in certain areas of the map and once they see you a music cue à la Jaws will play, to show you the shark has become hostile.
As their name implies, they carry loot items such as weapons or ammo and usually prefer to swim around the arena’s water spots… rather than flying high in the sky.
However, once they’ve got their sights on fresh meat (aka you) they will jump towards your location even if you’re on land.
That’s what seems to have happened when Reddit user Skyrimfanboy87 decided to jump on a game of Fortnite with a couple of his buddies.
He shared a clip of a Loot Shark flying across the sky with a car in its mouth, while his Darth Vader character was left too stunned to speak on top of a nearby rooftop. Which is a sentence you only ever get to say in Fortnite.
The Loot Shark quickly disappeared, before Skyrimfanboy87’s friends managed to spot the wild animal.
This is not the first time the glitch has appeared in Fortnite, as it’s already become a meme between players, who refer to it as Sharknado.
Like tornados, Loot sharks will consume any items they come across, but high rarity loot will cause their eyes and teeth to glow in the same colour.
Unlike tornadoes, though, you can ride them in-game by using a Fishing Rod or Pro Fishing Rod. The Loot Sharks can be controlled like a regular vehicle, except they will always be moving forwards.
Speaking of Fortnite vehicles, recent leaks suggest that a controversial means of transportation might be making its way back in Season 4, alongside Spider-Gwen.
As per usual, Epic Games hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but Fortnite leaks are almost always accurate. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 starts on September 18.
