Steampunk Metroidvania Teslagrad first had its sequel announced back in 2020, but thanks to a new trailer out of the Future Games Show, we now know that it will be coming to Xbox Series X|S in early 2023.
Teslagrad is a superb indie adventure where all of your special abilities are fuelled by magnetism and electricity, set against the backdrop of a steampunk twist on old Europe. This sequel shares a similarly quaint art style and creative use of fun zappy powers, and it looks even more out-there than the original in the beautiful new trailer that dropped at the Future Games Show.
Teslagrad 2 coming to Xbox in 2023
“Teslagrad was our first game as an indie team and the response was amazing,” shared developer Rain Games’ Peter W. Meldahl on Steam when the project was first announced. “From then on, fans have been asking us about a sequel, and it has never been far from my mind. This game has been rattling at the back of my mind for six years while we’ve been working on our games, I’ve hoarded the best ideas from those years to use for Teslagrad 2.” He goes on to discuss the Nordic inspirations of the sequel’s setting, Wyrmheim, and there’s some wonderful imagery in the new trailer that backs that up.
