Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 Pokemon World Championships Celebration event in Pokemon GO!

Pokemon isn’t just about catching ’em all, it’s also about training and battling the Pokemon you catch.

The 2022 Pokemon World Championships are taking place in London, where thousands of Pokemon trainers will be battling each other in Pokemon video games as well as the trading card game.

To commemorate this in Pokemon GO, the game is holding a World Championships Celebration event to coincide with the real-life championships. Here’s everything you need to know about it!

Pokemon GO World Championships Celebration Event Guide

Pokemon GO World Championships Start Date

The Pokemon GO World Championships Celebration Event will start on August 18, 2022, at 10 AM local time.

End Date

Meanwhile, the World Championships event will end at 8 PM local time on August 23, 2022.

This means players will have just 5 days to experience everything the event has to offer.

New World Championships 2022 Costumed Pikachu

There’s only one new Pokemon debuting during the event. This is, of course, the World Championships 2022 costumed Pikachu.

This particular Pikachu is wearing a jacket and hat inspired by Beefeaters who guard the Tower of London.

Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be active during the event:

• Challengers with Pokémon teams inspired by the ones used by Trainers who won the Pokemon GO Regional Championships will appear at PokeStops.
• 3x Stardust from GO Battle League win rewards.
• The maximum number of GO Battle League sets you can play per day will be increased from five to 10, for a total of 50 battles per day.

Pokemon GO World Championships Timed Research

During the event, some Timed Research will arrive in Pokemon GO. We don’t know what it will task players with doing just yet, be we do know the rewards:

• World Championships 2022 Pikachu
• Elite Fast TM
• Elite Charged TM

Wild Encounters

The following Pokemon will be spawning in the wild during the World Championships event.

Raids

Legendaries Zacian and Zamazenta, Mega Slowbro, and a number of other Pokemon will be appearing in Raids during the World Championships event. They are:

Field Research Task Encounters

By spinning PokeStops during the 2022 Pokemon World Championships event, you can get limited-time Field Research Tasks. Completing these will reward you with encounters with one the following Pokemon:

• Bulbasaur*
• World Championships 2022 Pikachu*
• Gastly*
• Rhyhorn*
• Magikarp*
• Chikorita*
• Mudkip*
• Galarian Zigzagoon*
• Beldum*
• Galarian Stunfisk*
• Fletchling*

Pokemon with an asterisk next to them mean a shiny version can spawn.

Featured Attacks

Evolving into certain Pokemon during the 2022 Pokemon World Championships event will give your Pokemon featured attacks. Here are all of the featured attacks that Pokemon can learn:

• Rhyperior
• Gengar
• Gyarados
• Metagross
• Talonflame

Galar Avatar Items

Finally, there will also be Galar-inspired Avatar items for Pokemon trainers to purchase. The Dragon-type and Dark-type sports top and shorts will get your Avatar looking just like a football player!
