Players who have come up against a Jake the Dog and Velma duo in MultiVersus may have seen the exploit, but here’s how you can counter it for the near future.
With a roster full of strange and unique characters, there are bound to be some issues when you throw them all together.
While many players have been enjoying MultiVersus, some players have been using a glitch or exploit to their advantage.
Aptly titled the Velma and Jake exploit, MultiVersus players have been eager to find a successful counter to the annoying issue.
What is the Velma and Jake Exploit in MultiVersus?
The Jake and Velma exploit uses Jakes down special to infinitely bounce Velma’s speech bubbles towards enemies.
As you can see with the clip below, combining Jake’s That’s Heavy, Dude move with Velma’s Spread the Knowledge is a rage-fuelling combination.
While Tony Huynh, Game Director for MultiVersus says this will be fixed soon, the delay of Season One may have pushed back some fixes.
Fortunately, there are some viable ways to counter the Velma & Jake exploit. But before we get into those, you may need to unlock some characters! Find out how to get Gold fast in MultiVersus!
MultiVersus: Jake the Dog and Velma Exploit Counters
Here are some counters to the Velma and Jake exploit in MultiVersus:
- LeBron James’ Ball Throw
- School Me Once… Perk
- Wonder Woman’s Shield
We’re also going to go into more detail on how each of these counters works against Jake and Velma.
LeBron James’ Neutral Special
LeBron James has some great combos by utilizing his Buckets neutral special move. Throwing the basketball at unsuspecting enemies can pause this exploit for a few moments.

Moving the analog stick will make LeBron throw the ball in certain directions, which is great for getting up and over Jake the Dog.
School Me Once… Perk
The School Me Once… perk can be great for dealing with this exploit, thanks to its defense against projectile attacks.
You can find a clip of this perk in action below, specifically against the Velma and Jake exploit!
Upon getting hit by a projectile, the perk gives the player a projectile block buff for two seconds. And it is upped to four seconds if your duo partner makes use of it too.
You’ll likely have to use Perk Training to make use of this perk. Find out how to train perks in MultiVersus!
Wonder Woman’s Shield
Putting Wonder Woman’s shield to good use can help you push Velma and Jake and make their projectiles easy to avoid.

Firstly, Wonder Woman’s side special, Warrior’s Charge, makes her raise her shield and walk toward enemies. Not only that but an armor buff is applied, making it more difficult for the exploitative duo to stun you.
And secondly, you have Wonder Woman’s down special, Defense of the Gods. Using this ability will not only wipe any debuffs your ally has, but will also shield both of you. The next hit an enemy lands on you won’t have any damage or knockback, making it great for a push.
