During a recent interview with Todd Papy, the Live Game Director behind Star Citizen, we got some answers to some burning questions of the community, including some bad news for elevator assassinations!
In the latest version of Star Citizen Live, we learned some new information on the AI nav-mesh system as well as the upcoming derelict outposts and crashed ships. The interview also provided answers to some of the fixes that you might have expected to arrive in Alpha 3.17.2, but unfortunately, they won’t.
On top of the unfortunate news for the community, Todd Papy revealed that the issue with elevators killing players due to an infamous bug is something related to the servers, and it probably won’t be addressed with the upcoming Alpha 3.17.2 update.
According to the developer, there are a number of bugs that have been hard for the team to track down on the server side, and the elevator issue is one of them.
This is surely going to be annoying to get slaughtered by elevators for several more months until 3.18, but that’s not the worst thing in Star Citizen.
In case you don’t know, the elevator bug in Star Citizen is a bizarre incident that happens when you are next to an elevator’s door, waiting for the cabin to arrive, but suddenly it kicks you out of the space you are at, either killing you or trapping you inside walls. Hopefully, it is not a common bug, but it happens every now and then.
Aside from this, Todd Papy answer a dozen other questions, which revealed new things about the upcoming content in Alpha 3.17.2. If you are interested in the next update, you can check out the full interview in the video above.
According to the Live Game Director of Star Citizen, all support teams are currently focused on Squadron 42, which makes it a bit more difficult for the core Persistent Universe team to do more fixes and deliver more surprises.
Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.2 doesn’t have an exact release date, but it is currently in Wave 1 of testing and is expected to be released by the end of this month.
