Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fallon Order and Medal of Honor recently sent fans into a tizzy with a job listing that teased the return of an epic adventure franchise in Titanfall.
The job listing in question is for the role of a Hard Surface Artist, who will be working on ‘a brand new Respawn single-player adventure’ set in the Apex Legends Universe.
For people unaware about the lore surrounding Apex Legends, the Battle Royale title is set 30 years after the events of Respawn’s Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and many of the game’s characters and locations have been referenced and/or have links to the original franchise, which garnered rave reviews from fans.
The series last made an appearance with Titanfall 2, which released in 2016. The FPS shooter was one of the best games of the series, and fans loved its storyline that was coupled with the title’s brilliant gameplay. Moreover, it even set a benchmark on how developers can create the next-generation of single player FPS titles.
While it received several nods during awards season, Titanfall 2 failed to perform commercially, and soon, Respawn cut off its support for the game’s multiplayer modes. However, it’s been over 6 years since the game released, many fans claim that it’s still the gold standard for single player FPS games.
The rumors about Respawn returning to the series came around last year, when the company announced a hiring spree for a new single player adventure. However, with the recent job listing confirming that a game set in the Apex Legends universe is on the pipeline, fans believe that their prayers will finally be heard in the form of Titanfall 3, which can fill the void of a good single player game in the FPS genre.
