Subscribers of Xbox’s Gold subscription will be losing out soon, as Xbox 360 games will no longer be offered as part of the service soon.
While Xbox has always been a household name, they’ve become more popular in recent years thanks to Game Pass. So much so, that even PlayStation Plus has introduced new Game Pass-like tiers.
But before Game Pass was Games with Gold. These were games offered to subscribers similar to PlayStation Plus’ free monthly games.
However, it seems subscribers who are only on Xbox’s Gold subscription will start losing out soon, as Xbox 360 games will no longer be available.
Xbox 360 Games Won’t Be Offered With Xbox Games With Gold Later This Year
An email seemingly from Xbox was recently sent to Xbox Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The official email informs players that they are no longer including Xbox 360 games as part of Games with Gold.
The email, shared by Wario64, is in Dutch. But upon translating the text, it reads “From October 1, 2022, the monthly games via Games with Gold [will no longer] offer Xbox 360 games anymore.”
The Xbox Series consoles were only released within the last few years. But could a new Xbox Series console be on the way?
The removal of Xbox 360 games from Games with Gold seems to be due to Xbox “reaching their limit”. We assume this is due to the halting of Xbox’s Backwards Compatibility program. This likely means that they’ve run out of games to give away.
However, those who have downloaded Xbox 360 games before October 2022 will be free to re-download the games they received. And, without a subscription too.
Xbox confirms that Games with Gold will still offer Xbox One games for the future, as well as exclusive savings.
