According to the report, an inside employee managing email newsletters sold the list of their customers’ emails to an outside party. After the breach, OpenSea warns its customers to watch out for spam and phishing attacks.
He was an employee of Customer.io, a platform dedicated to managing newsletters and customer emails. The staff at OpenSea found out that the employee is selling email data and reported it immediately.
Data breaches like this keep happing in the blockchain space as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and email newsletter platforms appear to be vulnerable to attacks and leaks.
This is not the first time we’re seeing a data breach like this. Back in March, we saw Hubspot get hacked that affected BlockFi, NDIG, Circle, and Swan Bitcoin. Hubspot is very similar to Customer.io
After the hack, OpenSea is warning that customers are likely to receive emails from domains similar to Opensea.io, opensea.org, or opensea.xyz. The users have to keep their eyes open for such spam and phishing attacks and not send anyone anything.
On Twitter, OpenSea customers are already reporting phishing attacks, calls, and text messages. Also, Nate Chastain Was Arrested in an OpenSea insider scam.
