Just Cause is a franchise that is popular for the freedom and range of destruction it provides to the players. The game provides the players with vast areas filled with destructive environment that players can take down in a multiple ways. The last Just Cause game was the 4 instalment to the series and was released back in 2018, it has been more than enough time for the players to receive a new instalment to this fantastic series.
Square Enix, the publisher for this franchise, has just gone through a process of selling their major studios, Crystal Dynamic, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, to the Embracer Group, for a price tag of $300 million. They lost popular IPs such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Tomb Raider and more through the process of this sale, however, Just Cause was retained under their roof.
Just Cause has been a pivotal part of Square Enix’s growth and the company understands the value of the franchise as it has been put on priority. Through the recent financial report by Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda provided the fans with some clarity about Just Cause. Even though the company is actively looking for new titles and IPs, Just Cause will stay as their IP and development for a new title for the franchise has already begun. We want to focus on creating new titles that align with our strategy, including ones that leverage new IP. The JUST CAUSE franchise will remain our IP, and we are at work developing a new title in the franchise.
Through this news the fans can be assured that a new title for the Just Cause franchise is indeed on its way. As of now there is no information about where Rico is and where will his next adventure take him. If the players are lucky, then they might receive an announcement during the Summer Games Fest which is just around the corner, but it seems highly unlikely.
