Season 17 of Destiny 2 has finally arrived, and with it comes Bungie’s latest major upgrade to the subclass system with Solar 3.0.
Following the success of Void 3.0 with Season of the Risen, fans were quite excited to see what the developers had in store with the fiery Solar subclass in Season of the Haunted, and following the release of the game’s update yesterday, the response has been quite mixed.
For the most part, Void 3.0 was universally accepted as a game-changer for Destiny 2, when it arrived with the much-loved Witch Queen expansion. However, in Season 17, it seems like the developers at Bungie have their work cut for them with the Solar subclass and its new framework.
While Hunters and Titans have shared positive reviews about the new Aspects and Fragments, Warlocks believe that the new change has been a step in the wrong direction, with many of them taking to Reddit to voice their concerns.
Players have been dropping their thoughts on the Dawnblade Warlock subclass, which seems to have been affected the most, with many Guardians clamoring for changes with the Aspects options available for them.
With three Aspects available for Warlocks in Icarus Dash, Heat Rises and Touch of Flame, players believe that Bungie has had an oversight by not making sure that these options run well as a combo. Additionally, with the addition and removal of abilities, players with healing playstyles have also felt quite distraught over the lack of choices for them to change up their game.
At the moment, the Warlock community’s biggest ask revolves around joining Icarus Dash and Heat Dish, as they don’t provide the required effect separately. Additionally, they have even asked for a rework surrounding the Aspects system by adding a fourth choice for Guardians, similar to Stasis.
Even with all these issues, players have kept their faith with Bungie, as the developers have provided a solid framework with Solar 3.0 for these changes to take place quite soon. But, at the moment, it seems like Warlocks haven’t received the best of news with the release of Season of the Haunted.
