Bethesda has announced that two of its upcoming titles – Starfield and Redfall – have been pushed back to 2023.
The announcement was shared on Twitter this afternoon, stating that the development teams have “incredible ambitions for their games”. And as such, “we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”
Starfield is perhaps Bethesda’s most anticipated title (outside of the inevitable Elder Scrolls VI). It was originally set to release exclusively on Xbox on 11th November, making it the console’s biggest game of the year. Now, it won’t release until the first half of 2023.

The information given about Starfield so far has been purposefully scarce, but we know it’s a space-baced action RPG, perhaps best thought of as “Skyrim in Space”. It’s also Bethesda’s first new in-house IP in 25 years.
Redfall, on the other hand, is a vampire-themed first person shooter, in development by Arkane Studios. Again, it’s to be exclusive to Xbox and PC, and while a solid release date was never given, it was expected to land this summer.
Both games now have no release date, but will be expected sometime between January and June 2023.

With two games being lost from Xbox’s exclusive line-up this year, we wonder if we’ll see any new announcements to fill the gaps. With the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase coming up on 12th June, we’ll probably find out then.
