The latest free update for Grounded sees the bugs rise up in fury with three new base defence modes whereby they can attack your base, attack the new MIX.Rs, or just become enraged and attack you.
The Bugs Strike Back is the latest free update for Grounded, and becomes available today, with new base defence modes, new items, and quality-of-life improvements.
What is in Grounded’s new free update?
“Players have had fun exploring the yard since the early access launch and have defeated many, many, many bugs,” says Obsidian’s director of communications, Mikey Dowling. “But the bugs are tired and they aren’t putting up with the attacks anymore.”
The rage of the bugs is broken down into three different modes. Fashion Reactivity means “bugs will take the fight back to your base when they get tired of you intruding on their territory or killing their kind. The more you annoy a particular species, the more likely they will come knocking at your door.” Then there’s the slightly gruesome Waft Emitter, into which you throw bug parts, causing “the correlating bugs to become enraged and want to exact revenge on you.” When the new MIX.Rs, meanwhile, are thrown into overdrive, this will also aggravate the bugs, which will converge on the machine to destroy it, leaving you to defend it for a reward of Raw Science.

New items include the Pollen Turret, the Pebble Turret, and the Explosive Burr Traps, while players will also be able to upgrade their armour. Obsidian has also added in a new feature to the PEEP.R, where you can earn Creature Cards (sometimes a rare gold one) after you “peep” creatures. There’s also a number of quality-of-life updates which you can check out over on the Xbox Wire post.
