NORMAN — OU will proceed honoring nation music star Toby Keith for Saturday’s spring football game.
Over two months since Keith died at 62 on Feb. 5, the Sooners revealed a “TOBY” emblem Friday painted on the 25-yard line of Owen Discipline, which can honor the diehard OU fan through the annual spring recreation. Keith, who was an everyday at OU athletic occasions all through his life, is depicted elevating his fist.
Keith was beforehand honored through the Sooners’ Feb. 6 basketball contest vs. BYU. Athletic director Joe Castiglione stood behind the seat Keith frequented on the Lloyd Noble Heart as a guitar, a Sooners cap and pink solo cup occupied the spot pregame. OU’s mascots Boomer, Sooner and High Daug repped “TK” shirts in his honor.
“Remembering our expensive buddy Toby Keith in a spot the place he cheered on many Sooners crew,” Castiglione wrote Friday on X. “He offered Coca-Cola within the stands as a teen and was on the sideline all through final season. We miss Massive T!”
OU will kick off its spring recreation at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Gaylord Household – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on ESPN+.
