After the acquisition of Bungie by Sony, the developers have been putting out several job listings and hiring across different fields of work. Bungie first posted a job listing for a senior producer, which made everyone feel that a Destiny 2 TV series or movie was in the works. After that they posted a job listing for a creative director which hinted that the developers might be working on a new IP.
Now, another job listing has been spotted by The Game Post, which states that Bungie might be looking for a Senior Mobile Platforms Engineer. In the listing Bungie has stated that the responsibility for the engineer would be to help them extend the games to iOS and Android platforms. The engineer will have to work on prototypes and help with UI, performance optimisation and size reduction for the mobile platform. As a Senior Mobile Engineer at Bungie, you will help us extend the technology that our games rely on to reach players on iOS and Android mobile platforms. You will start in a prototype phase to prove out what is possible. From there, you will solve the interesting problems of supporting mobile including player controls, UI, performance optimization, and size reduction. Most importantly, you will work with an experienced and energetic team to build some of the best games in the world.
Now the question that is popping up in every player’s head is that whether the engineer is being hired to extend the reach of Destiny 2 to iOS and Android users and further increase their player base, or the engineer will be working on the new IP that was just confirmed by the game director at Bungie. There is no way of knowing what is cooking up under the wraps at the moment, players should just be patient and wait for an official announcement from Bungie to know for sure.
