Xbox One S Much Quieter after Adding Aftermarket Fan
Bought a used combat green One S recently and noticed that the fan was making a lot of noise, which I figured was due to dust (outside looked pretty dusty). Decided to clean out the inside of the console with compressed air and drop in a quieter aftermarket fan.
Followed this guide and bought the recommended fan and cables + got a similar toolset. Took about an hour to open up the device, clean out the dust, and put in the new fan. Wasn’t too tough for someone who’s never repaired electronics before.
After closing it up, Xbox booted up fine and runs much quieter now. Checked the temperature by feel after playing for an hour+ of Infinite and the system feels cooler to the touch than with the old fan, which had a lot of dust on it.
In hindsight, if I had been less focused on trying to get the new fan in, I would’ve taken pics to share. Hopefully the ones in the link will suffice
